New Xbox 360 Sales Tactic

Friday, July 4th, 2008

In a statement that surprised gamers and non-gamers alike, Peter Moore of Microsoft Xbox, endorsed Nintendo’s new Wii console. Speculations circulated whether this statement by Moore was a genuine praise or a calculated move designed to offset the launch of Sony PlayStation 3. Moore even referred to himself as a big fan of the Nintendo console. He suggested that for the price of a PS3, gamers would be able to get a new Xbox 360 plus a Nintendo Wii, with some leftover for a few games. It can be recalled that Sony pegged the price of their new PlayStation at $499-$599, a price the company claimed to be fit for a Blu-ray console.

This move by Microsoft seemed to be another tactic to push the Xbox 360 sales higher with the imminent release of the PS3 at its heels. Peter Moore was downplaying the viability of the PS3 by pointing out the only disadvantage of the new Sony console: its price. But Moore’s reason was not only consumer concern. Moore’s statement also implied that Microsoft do not see Nintendo as direct threat and competitor. Perhaps he thought that having Nintendo’s support would clearly buoy Microsoft’s sales. Moore was right to do so in this case, since ugly numbers were cropping up in sales reviews of the Microsoft consoles.

The marketing and research firm, NPD Group supplied numbers and reports that indicated that the prized console of Microsoft lagged behind the PS2 in terms of hardware sales. Launched half a decade ago, Sony’s PlayStation 2 still lets its presence be felt at the game console market. The five-year old Sony console even managed to exceed the sales of the then-brand new Xbox 360 especially in the month of May. The next-gen console sold only 221,000 units; 11,000 units less than the PS2 sales. Though Microsoft retaliated quickly by revamping shipment processes and adding a third manufacturer for its console, it wasn’t enough to draw considerable margin between their sales and that of PS2.

But even if the move didn’t suffice, it somewhat improved Xbox 360 console sales. Succeeding sales reviews showed that the sales of the console picked up; the influx of consoles ensuring amply supply and brisk sales. But the PS3 was touted to be a bigger threat. It didn’t help either that Sony’s processing systems have improved since the release of the PS2. Clearly, it became imperative for Microsoft to beef up its marketing operation to ensure their new console’s top position within the next-gen hierarchy.

In conclusion, Microsoft’s marketing plan included Peter Moore banking on Sony’s overly-inflated ego that expected gaming fans to shell out big bucks for the PS3. Moore targeted the rival console’s price when he made that statement about Xbox 360 and the Wii console. He also hoped to draw in Nintendo fans over to the Microsoft side by actively endorsing the Wii. If Nintendo approves Moore’s tactic, the next-gen console battle will be a two versus one fight. Another tell-tale sign of Microsoft and Moore’s pricing attack at Sony’s new console was the reported price slash for Xbox 360 consoles during the holidays. The price slash was clearly planned to coincide with Sony’s PS3 launch. However, the affirmation if Peter Moore’s tactic worked still rests on gamers’ shoulders.

Wholesale Distributor - Where Can You Find Them

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Today, buying a wholesale distributor contact list is a high risk. There are virtually hundreds of online websites saying that they can make you a wealthy rich guy upon buying their wholesale information. Not only do you see them on regular search queries on Yahoo, Google or MSN- such scams can also be found per the thousands on auction sites like eBay. I know you have probably seen them. They say things like: $0.99 car audio wholesale, get rich. Huge wholesale business contacts- $4.99 or the more newly ones- Get rich with my wholesale list, $9.99 and then you check the seller items and guess what- they sell nothing else but information. Are those the type of wholesale people that you as a newcomer to the wholesale industry want as an expert guide and mentor?

Not in this world, right? It is obvious- we want to rely on entrepreneurs that are expert in niches when it comes to wholesale business. We definitely need an expert that has made thousands of dollars, just from wholesale. It is even more obvious, the saying says it all- We Get What We Pay For. When you buy a distributor list for pennies on the dollar, you get what you pay for. When you download a list from an unknown seller that does not have credibility in the industry, you get what you pay for- outdated wholesale contacts. I definitely remember when I had so much enthusiasm to build my own eBay store and my own online mini-mall, I will never forget. The excitement was all over my mind- I could not take it. So what happened? I purchase a bunch of wholesale list online and on eBay- the results?

I got what I paid. Lost of money and worst of all, waste of valuable time. Now, by the time I took the Internet seriously, early late 2004- I was still being paid pennies for the dollar on a per hour basis. I had to maintain a job to support my responsibility and myself. Yes, it was me back then- it could be you right now. The year 2005 did it for my company and me. I sold $1,000 plus in 24hrs and $1,000’s a week. It all came with focus, determination and persistence. Every year gets better thanks to the Internet. You should start asking yourself if you want to build a business where you do not need to have a million dollar capital to become successful. You should ask yourself if starting a wholesale business offline for $100,000 is riskier than starting a wholesale profitable business online for a few hundred dollars is much better and safer. Think about it, hundreds of businesses start every year on the Internet that relate to wholesale. Would like to join the wholesale billion-dollar industry?

The Future of Virtual Reality in Your Living Room

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

What will your living room look like in 2020 with all the new nifty high-tech entertainment devices available in the future? Already we see the flat panel large screen Television monitors and the new Xbox 360 is certainly incredible too. Then there is surround a sound and also little earbuds for perfect sound with little tiny electronic gadgets like the iPod.

Is it possible that in the future they will add holographic projection to these devices too? A literal virtual reality setting in your own living room; that is to say the future of Virtual Reality in your living room may appear more real life than the real world. And probably more exciting, challenging, entertaining and fun as well?

This does bring up a good point about the issues with visionaries and technology, as we watch the battle for the consumer electronics surpass the average consumer’s imagination and warp your real world into a rather augmented reality. Many high-tech engineers have lots of VR thoughts, some military with regard to simulation, Mars CAVE, automobile and truck simulators for training too. Here are just a few of those ideas.

Particularly of interest along the concept and theme and with regard to holographic VR, turning one’s living room into your own VR gamming or learning experience; you will not have to go very far on any search engines to see my point and a glimpse into the possible holographic Virtual Reality Living Room. Think on this in 2006.
